What damages are available in an employment discrimination case?

Generally, in an employment discrimination case, you can recover unpaid wages, compensatory damages, punitive damages, and attorney’s fees. Unpaid wages are available when the discrimination resulted in an economic impact; for example, if you’ve been terminated or demoted or if your salary has been decreased.

Compensatory damages are available to compensate you for your pain and suffering and emotional distress as a result of the discrimination, and punitive damages are there to punish the employer for particularly reprehensible forms of discrimination.
