What is retaliation?

Retaliation is any action taken by the employer to punish an employee for engaging in a protected activity. Those protected activities could include filing a claim of discrimination or filing a charge of discrimination or participating in an employment investigation for example. Retaliation could take the form of tangible employment action for example demotion, termination, transfer to an undesirable location or it could also take the form of harassment or more subtle conditions that affect the terms of your employment.
