What laws protect whistleblowers?

There are several statutes under federal law that protect whistleblowers, and generally speaking, these statutes protect a person who has complained about something illegal that the employer is doing or has objected or refused to do something illegal that the employer’s requesting that this person do. Florida also has at least two sets of laws that protect him or her under the whistleblower laws.
