What should I do if I believe I am a victim of employment discrimination?

If you believe that you’re a victim of employment discrimination, first thing to do is gather all the evidence. Create a diary where you keep all of the information, the facts and circumstances surrounding the conduct that you believe to be discriminatory, the names of any witnesses, copies of any letters or conversations that suggest that you’re being discriminated against, and then go talk to your HR manager and inform your employer of the discrimination. A lot of discrimination goes unrecognized because employers are never put on notice.

However if you put your employer on notice and your employer fails to rectify the situation, then the next step would be to file a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which is a prerequisite for filing any discrimination lawsuit.
